Dorsett Health Care Center in Spearfish. The funeral service will be held 1pm Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Belle Fourche, with Rev. Gail Arnold officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the United Methodist Church. Jennie Luurs was born March 20, 1923 in Platte, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Dirk and Anna (Dykema) Luurs. Jennie grew up in Platte, where she also attended school. On June 10th, 1942 she was married to Ray Muilenburg in Coolridge, Nebraska. Following their marriage they farmed for several years in the Corsica area. Jennie and Ray also lived in various communities throughout South Dakota including, Platte, Custer, Piedmont, Emery and in 1988 they moved to Belle Fourche. For the past 10 years they have lived in Spearfish. Together they enjoyed almost 64 years of marriage. Jennie loved children and throughout her life she took care of numerous children, perhaps more than one hundred all together. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, and making bread. Jennie will be remembered for being a fun lady to be with. She had a great sense of humor and will always be remembered and treasured. Jennie is survived by her husband, Ray of Spearfish; daughters, Florence (Bill) Shea of Corsica, Nora (Cal) Erhart of Belle Fourche; son, Harold (Karen) of Aladdin WY; sister, Grace Donker of Chadron NE; brothers, John (Birdena) Luurs of Chamberlain, Harry Luurs of Yankton, Richard (Kathleen) Luurs of Grand Rapids MI; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 grandchildren, Starla and Steve Shea; 1 great grandson, Jacob Collins; 2 sisters, Gracie and Anna Mae; and brother, Harm.
