OLD TOWN, Me., Jan. 29.---The St. John Train No. 29, or what is called down here the Provincial Express, was wrecked in the cut at Orono Basin Mills at 3:45 this afternoon, and six cars, including the smoker, were turned topsy-turvy into the ditch. At the time of the derailment, which was due to spreading rails, the train was running about thirty-five miles an hour. It was made up of a combination baggage, and mail car, parlor car Claribel, smoking car, two passenger coaches, and the private car of President F. A. Wilson of the Maine Central Railroad, which was occupied by President and Mrs. Wilson and two women on the way to St. John to pass Sunday. Census taker says Nina "15th April Mrs. Whelter (?)" (W.S. Caie and John Main, Richibucto, received $50.05 from the Sick and Disabled Seaman's Fund at Saint John on November 1, 1862) In the 1861 Canada Census, cabinet maker John Main, 58, born Scotland, was living in Richibucto, N.B. with Jane, 52, born Scotland; Agnes, 30; Mary, 22; Isabella, 17; Jenie, 15; Alexander, 13; Jeffrey, 9; and Thomasina, 6;, all born in N.B.;Independent lodger Alexander Jeffrey, 75, born Scotland; lodger teacher Charles Pitlas, 23, born Scotland; and lodger Thomas Johnson, 18, born N.B. Jennie was the daughter of John Main and Jean Johnstone. ("In the spring of 1826 , a lumber vessel bound for Richibucto, N.B. carried a number of passengers for that port When off the Magdalene Islands, the vessel was stove in with the ice, and the crew and passengers had to take to the boats. There was no time to secure any provisions, and a little package of potato starch that a lady passenger had used at the time of the incident, and carried with her, was the only thing eatable in the boats. Among the passengers was James Johnstone, of Dumfries, Scotland, and his daughter Jean, 16 years old. For three days and nights the boats drifted. Mr. Johnstone, who was an old man, died from the cold and exposure, and at the time of his death, his daughter was lying apparently unconscious in the bottom of one of the boats. On the morning of the fourth day, a vessel bound for Miramichi discovered them and took all on board. After landing safely at Miramichi, they took passage for Richibucto. Miss Johnstone married John Main of Richibucto and was the mother of a large family. Mrs. Main was never able to overcome her dread of the sea after this dreadful experience." )
