In 1910 "William Studabaker," age 53, born in Indiana, and wife "Jenny" owned their residence in the 8th precinct of Center Township, Wapello County, Iowa. Married 6 years, it was his 2nd marriage and her 3rd. Occupation: none. By 1915 W. L. Studebaker was retired and deaf according to the Iowa state census of that year. He and Jennie were living in Center Township in a home, she may have owned, valued at $2400. The 1920 U.S. census of Iowa finds W. L. Studebaker, age 73 (sic), divorced, boarding with the Tully family on South Milnor street in the city of Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa. Occupation: "Janitor" at "School House." Jennie Studebaker, age 63, divorced, was the owner of a residence at 225 S. Schengler (?) street. Occupation: none. By 1925, W. L. Studebaker, age 64 (sic), divorced, was still a boarder with the Tully family on South Milnor Street in Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa. A 20-year resident of Iowa, his education had been 5 years in a "Rural" school (vs. Grade or High school). While Jennie Studebaker, age 67, "widow" was a lodger at 150-1/2 North Moon street in Ottumwa. She had lived in Iowa all her life and was enumerated as having completed a 10-year High School education. (Note: The 1915 state census indicates 7 years of Common school.) Following their divorce, William apparently moved back to Indiana between 1925 and 1930 where he lived with a brother-in-law, Levi L. Baumgartner, occupation Poultry Breeder, in South Whitley prior to his death in 1943. William has SFNA no. P591-24. See also: The Studebaker Family in America, vol. I, page 233.
