She departed this life at Oshkosh, Nebraska, on May 7, 1947. As a small child she, with her parents, moved to Cambridge, Kansas, where she grew to womanhood. On May 13, 1900, she was united in marriage to William H. French, near Grenola, Kansas. She departed this life at Oshkosh, Nebraska, on May 7, 1947. As a small child she, with her parents, moved to Cambridge, Kansas, where she grew to womanhood. On May 13, 1900, she was united in marriage to William H. French, near Grenola, Kansas. To this union seven children were born: John A., Lewellen; Andy Joseph, Grand Island; Mary Catherine Van Romer, Wallington, New Jersey; Howard Henry, LaGrange, Wyoming; Lloyd Phillip, Ashby; Samuel Franklin, Ashby; and Mattie Hazel Cox, Joes, Colorado. She was also the mother of two step-children: Mrs. Amanda Williams, Oshkosh; and Lee. She was preceded in death by her husband and by her sons, Lee and John. Besides her seven children she is survived by three brothers: L. E. Smith, Texhoma, Oklahoma; Lovell R. Smith, Ashford, Washington; and Homer Smith, Philipsburg, Missouri; and three sisters: Mrs. Lillie L. Armer, who was with her at the time of her death; Mrs. May Hoard. Latham, Kansas; and Mrs. Anna Totman, Arcadia, Kansas; and by 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In 1902 the French family moved to Kibby, Oklahoma, where they located on a homestead. In 1909 they came to Garden county by covered wagon, the trip taking one month. On April 9th they arrived at their present ranch home, 38 miles northeast of Oshkosh. For the past year she has been living in her home in Oshkosh. Funeral services were at the Wright chapel by Rev. Larson of Bingham. Interment was in he family lot in Ash Hollow cemetery.
