Jens Christensen, son of Chris and Dilliana Petersen, was born March 26, 1869 in Sonderup, Jutland, Denmark. He came to the United States in 1890, making his home at Norman Nebraska. Here he was united in marriage January 23, 1892 to Marie Nielsen. They moved from Norman to this community in 1913 and since then have resided on their farm southwest of Dannebrog. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was an honest and upright neighbor and citizen and a kind an loving husband and father. The death of Mr. Christensen occurred at the St. Francis hospital Grand Island, June 6, 1938, following an illness of four weeks. He was 69 years, two months and 11 days of age. Besides the widow, he leaves to mourn two daughters, Mrs. Carl Pedersen, of Dannebrog, and Mrs. Otto Christensen of Omaha; also three sons, Chris L. Christensen of Dannebrog, Reinholdt Christensen of Oakland, Calif., and Martel Christensen of Omaha. Two sons died in infancy.
