Christensen who passed away suddenly January 7 in a Grand Island hospital. Rev. Harold Ibsen officiated. Mrs. J. M. Allen accompanied Orville V. At the church services Mrs. Elmer Jacobsen sang "Whispering Hope" and the congregation sang " My Father Has Light in His Window" and "Sweet Hour of Prayer," accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Petersen. Casketbearers were Herluff Andersen, Howard Russell, Albert Sanderson, Delbert Danhauer, Raymond Larson, and C. B. McIntosh. Burial was in the St. John's Lutheran church cemetery. On January 23, 1895, Jens Christian Christensen was born to Nels and Mette Christensen at Lindsay. He passed away January 7, 1963 at a Grand Island Hospital at the age of 67. He was baptized and confirmed in the Saint Ansgar's Lutheran Church of Rosenburg, Nebr. He grew to manhood in the Lindsay vicinity and during World War I he served two years in the United States Army. On October 3, 1923, he has united in marriage to Johanna Viola Lagoni at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg, where he maintained his membership until death. To this union four children, three daughters and one son were born. He and his wife moved to the Marquette vicinity in 1924 and engaged in farming west of Marquette. In 1953 he moved to Marquette and opened a welding and repair shop. He continued actively there until 1961 when ill health caused semi-retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 13, 1935, and by his parents. He leaves to mourn his passing four children, Nels Christensen, Mrs. Ethel Johansen, and Mrs. Alice Higby, all of Marquette, and Mrs. Elvera Willcock of Stockham; 13 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Bertha Damgaard of Lindsay and Mrs. Sigrid Lackstrom of Fremont, Calif.; six brothers, Ben of St. Edward, Pete and Viggo of Lindsay, Herluf of Central City, Arnold of Bellfower, Calif., and Aage of West Covina, Calif.; nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
