Read More	Arlington Sun Nov 1926 Saturday morning, Oct 30th, Masthias Christensen one of the pioneer settler of Badger Township passed out of this life at his home in Badger. Jens Mathias Christensen was born in Snested, Denark. on the 22nd of Novermber, 1848. Here he grew to manhood under the care of the Lutheran church. At the age of twenty two in the year of 1870, Mr. Christensen came to this country. After a short stay of a few months in Calument, Michigan, he came to Badger twonship which has since been his home. On June 2, 1878, the deceased uas united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Miss Karen Leegaared. This union was blessed with twelve children, four sons departing this life in early infancy. The deceased had been aling the past year but not until several months ago did his condition become serious. It was discoved that a cancer was knawling on his life and slowly but inevitable his strenth was ebbing away. During the last weeks Mr. Christensen's suffering was great but his faithful wife proved herself as through their life's journey a faithful helpmate who remained steadfast at his side to do everything in her power to relieve him. Saturday morning Oct. 30th, at 6:20 o'clock death came quietly to release him. The deceased is survived by his sorrowing widow and eight children; Palmer Christensen of Watertown, S. D., Mrs. Wm. Christensen of Hetland, Robert and John of Badger, Albert and Clarence of Kanakee, Ill, and Mrs. Wm. Larson and Mrs. Clifford Miller of Badger, and a brother Peter Christensne of Oldham and numberous othe relative and friends who mourn his departure. His age at the time of his death was 77 years, 11 months and 8 days. The funeral services were held Monday. After a short prayer service at the home the sservices where held at Lake Thisted Church at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Rev Hinrich assisted by Rev. krog officiated. The later delivered a short address in the Danish languasy. Interment was made at the Lake Thisted cemetery. Pall-bears wer the three sons attending the funeral, Robert, John and Albert and the three sons-in-law, Messers Wm Larson, Wm. Christensen and Clifford Miller.
