June 8, 1888. He died at an Aurora hospital Feb. 2, 1961 after suffering fatal injuries in an auto accident. Mr. Jacobsen grew to manhood in the Dannebrog community, where he was very active in community affairs. On June 10, 1908 he was united in marriage to Louise Elvira Christensen and to this union three children came to bless their home. His life was spent in serving the public by supplying their vital needs in the general store business, where he was well known for his fair dealing, and his help to the needy. However, his main calling in life was that of a mortician. His desire during life to do all that was humanly possible to help lighten the burden of sorrow to those who lost their loved ones by death. Rich or poor received this same professional, sympathetic and thoughtful service, which is remembered and cherished all over the county and state by all who called for his services. Preceding him death were his wife, Louise his parents, one sister, Lydia and a brother Magnus M. On Jan. 31, 1952 the Lord blessed him with another partner in life, Mrs. Rose McIntyre. Their lives were dedicated to extend their services to the St. Paul and Wolbach communities. In 1959 they were compelled to retire because of failing health. His son, James P. Jacobsen took over the task that he had given his life to in service to mankind, which is a living memorial to him. He leaves those living who shall remember him as a faithful husband, his wife, Rose of St. Paul; as a loving father: Mrs. Genevieve Holberg, Arlington, Virginia, Mrs. Lois Ann Kuska, Fairmont, Nebr., James J. Jacobsen, St. Paul; as a thoughtful brother, four sisters: Mrs. Rose Silva of Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. Helga Hald of Dannebrog, Nebr., Mrs. Dagmar Roe and Mrs. Ethel Anderson of McCook, Nebr.; three brothers: Dr. Ole I. Jacobsen of Milwaukee, Wis., Lars and Milton Jacobsen of Dannebrog, also two stepchildren: Verden McIntyre of Salina, Calif., and Mrs. Victor Grossart of Wolbach, Nebr, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several step-grandchildren, besides a host of friends who miss him and cherish his life of service. He worshipped and served his Lord while in Dannebrog by his membership with the Lutheran Church, and when he moved to St. Paul, at the United Presbyterian Church. The Lord blessed him with more than three score and ten years of life. May his life of service for the Lord and to mankind be an inspiration for us who are living, to carry on serving our Lord and mankind....
