Caviness Jenzena Emily Caviness, daughter of Mathew and Anna Marie Sorenson, was born Nov. 16, 1885 in Copenhagen, Denmark and died Tuesday, Oct. 27, as a result of a heart attack. Mrs. Caviness was married to John William Caviness in Jackson, Minn. and spent the major part of her life as a homemaker. She is survived by three sons, Jerry, Lloyd and Clifford, all of Spirit Lake; one daughter, Mrs. Howard Reed of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers Peter Sorenson and ??? Sorenson of Jackson Minn.; two sisters, Christina Jackson of Alpha, Minn. and Serena Jackson of Jackson, Minn.; 20 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Assembly of God church in Spirit Lake with the Rev. C. E. Amundson officiating. Interment was in Lakeview cemetery. Special music was provided by Mrs. Delbert Mitchell and Mrs. Elmer Tauge. Pallbearers were Delbert Mitchell, Claude Hartman, Earl Hartman, George Fisher, Marvin Fry and Bill Post. Obituary is published in the Spirit Lake Beacon, Nov. 12, 1959. ---------- Mrs. Jenzena Caviness Dies Tuesday Morning; Final Rites Are Today Funeral services for Mrs. Jenzena Caviness, 74, will take place at 1:30 p.. today (Thursday) at the Assembly of God Church. The Rev. C. E. Amundson, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Mrs. Caviness died early Tuesday morning, Oct. 27, at her home at 710 Seventh street in Spirit Lake. Cause of death was not known at press time. Mrs. Caviness was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. She had lived in the Spirit Lake community approximately 30 years. Mrs. Caviness is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Earl (Srena) Jackson of Jackson, Minn. and Mrs. LeRoy (Christina) Jackson of Alpha, Minn.; two brothers Eilag Sorensen and Pete Sorenson both of Jackson; three sons, Jerry, Lloyd and Clifford Caviness, all of Spirit Lake; a daughter, Mrs. Howard (Irene) Reed of Seattle Wash.; 19 grandchildren ; 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Will be glad to send photo of his Danish brotherhood application . He was born in Vesterby Osted Sogn Jylland in Denmark I have documentation from the Danish brotherhood of men that he was a member of, also a Danish genealogist hired to research this name from Denmark. Jensine's birth name was Jensine Petine Amalie Sorensen. This is how it was spelled by the genealogist researching the family through church records. [[email protected]] This woman is my grandmother ,while most of the information contained her is correct ,the name she was born and christened with was Jensine Petrine Amalie Sorensen ,(Scena ) her father was not Matthew or Mathew his name was Mads JOhn and her mother was Ane .I have documentation in the form of Mads application to the Danish brotherhood of men,where he signs his own name .I have a letter from the Society of the Danish Brotherhood discussing Mads .I have letters from another grandaughter Marion Jackson Chozen discussing her Grandfather and Grandmother,all of the documentation I have found list him as Mads or M.J except one census and those were simply spelled the way the name sounded to the taker .I also have documentation from a Danish researcher hired by myself to search for this family. -----------
