Description	:	Jerard A. Haas, 53, of Auburn, KS went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 27, 2021, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. Visitation is Sunday, January 2, from noon until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville, KS. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2022, at the Marysville City Cemetery. Masks are required at visitation and service. Jerard was born on February 29, 1968, in Marysville, KS to Gregory and Janice Haas. He was raised in Marysville and graduated from Marysville High School in 1986. He attended Tulsa School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK and graduated with a degree in Aviation Mechanics. Jerard's aviation career spanned 33 years beginning with his employment at the airport in Manhattan, KS. From there he took a position with Raytheon in Corpus Christi, TX working with government contracts. After a few years, Jerard headed back to Kansas to work for Hetrick Aviation at Philip Billard Airport in Topeka. He went on to work for the Kansas Highway Patrol for 10 years where he was the Director of Maintenance servicing all Highway Patrol planes, helicopters, and the Governor's King Air, and received the Employee of the Year Award. Most recently, Jerard was the General Manager for Heinen Aviation Services in Seneca, KS. He was a dedicated, professional, hardworking man with exceptional mechanic skills and an eye for detail. Jerard married on October 9, 2015, in Camden, MO. Jerard enjoyed being a stepfather. The two loved riding four-wheelers, shooting guns, and working on all kinds of projects together. Jerard had many interests including playing pool and card games, riding four-wheelers, watching movies (a favorite was National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation), Nebraska football, and bantering with his siblings over whose football team was better. Over the years Jerard became an accomplished pool player--spending hours practicing with friends and teammates at Terry's Billiards and Breakers in Topeka, and attending several national championship tournaments in Las Vegas, NV. He also enjoyed teaching Clayton how to play pool. Jerard had a love of the outdoors. He spent hours working in the yard, tinkering in his garage, and playing with his beloved babies, his dogs. In total he had eight dogs: Dax, Sheba, Jake I, Sadie Marie, Max, Jake II, Faith, and Rocky. He also enjoyed birdwatching and feeding the squirrels. After the loss of his dad, he took the reins hosting the Fourth of July celebration for the family, complete with a spectacular display of fireworks and homemade ice cream. Most of all he loved spending time with his wife, Courtney, the love of his life. He was and still is the protector of his family, a leader, and confidant. Jerard is preceded in death by his parents, Gregory A. and Janice M. Haas; Grandparents, Edward and Eileen Haas; Grandma, June Claeys; Grandpa, Victor Claeys; cousin, Steven Haas; and his beloved babies, Dax, Sheba, Jake I, Sadie Marie, Max, and Jake II. Jerard is survived by his wife, stepson, dogs, Rocky and Faith; brother, sisters, nephews, and niece, Mercedes Menard.
