He first lived in Kingston, but removed from there and settled on a large tract of land on the southwestern shore of Pleasant Pond in Deerfield, N. H., in 1762. He was also for two years, 1783-4, elected to the general assembly at Concord, N. H. His name appears as one of the signers to the Declaration made April 12, 1776, in response to a call from the Committee of Safety. For twenty years from 1775, he was town clerk.
