BURCHAM ---------------------------------------- MONDAMIN MAN WHO WAS BURIED MONDAY -- HAD MADE NAME FOR HIMSELF. ---------------------------------------- MONDAMIN, Ia., Feb. 12. -- On Monday occurred the funeral of J. F. Burcham, the body being laid at rest in Magnolia cemetery. Mr. Burcham had lived half a century in this vicinity and had won the respect and honor of all who knew him. His early schooling was obtained in Missouri Valley, after which he taught school in the Gamet school and was employed in various mercantile establishment in Mondamin. For many years he has lived upon a farm south of town adjoining the parental homestead where he was reared. Mr. Burcham had been an active member in the Masonic order, in the Odd Follows, and in the Modern Woodmen. He had frequently held public office, for ten years serving on the school board where he was untiring in his service for the interests of education and public welfare. About a year ago he was compelled to recognize an internal affliction from which he was to secure much relief. Recently he submitted to a further operation with but slight relief. With commendable fortitude he bravely faced the end. The funeral services were entirely in the charge of the Masonic order, both at the family home and at the cemetery. Aside from the devoted wife and two sons, Paul and Robert, the deceased leaves father and mother, a brother, Marion, and two sisters, Mrs. Samuel Noyes, of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. H. O. Goodman, of Mondamin. A wealth of beautiful flowers attested to the love and esteem with which the man and his family are held in the community. Friends and relatives from away, who attended the funeral were Mrs. George Gunsolley, Defiance, Ia.; Gladys Reynolds, Dunlap; Jonas Burcham, Blair, Neb.; and Mrs. Clarence Gunsolley, Defiance; Dr. and Mrs. Walter Hombach, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Bowers, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. J. F.
