He was born on November 3, 1927, son of Joseph J. and Alma Anna (Ackerman) Landauer, at Petersburg, Nebraska. Jerome was baptized and confirmed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and attended school at St. John’s School. Read More	Jerome Charles Landauer, Sr. November 3, 1927 ~ March 25, 2017 Jerome Charles Landauer, Sr., 89, formerly of Albion, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Grand Island Veterans Home in Grand Island, Nebraska. He was born on November 3, 1927, son of Joseph J. and Alma Anna (Ackerman) Landauer, at Petersburg, Nebraska. Jerome was baptized and confirmed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and attended school at St. John’s School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in February 7, 1946 and served two enlistments before being honorably discharged. On November 24, 1949, Jerome married Rebecca Joan Scarlett at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg. They lived in Albion before moving in 1951 to Columbus, Nebraska, for a short time before moving to Omaha, Nebraska, where he worked repairing televisions while receiving schooling in electronics. Jerome moved his family to Torrance, California, in 1956 where he worked for Allied Aluminum until moving back to Nebraska in 1959 to work for Nebraska Public Power District as an Instrument Technician and Supervisor. They lived in Wilbur, Crete, and Beatrice, Nebraska, before moving to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1971. He also worked at University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where he received a lifetime season pass to Husker games. After retiring from NPPD and UNL, Jerome worked as an Instrument Technician in the boiler room at the Nebraska regional Center, accompanied daily by his faithful companion Woofus John. Along with his career, he always had a second job. After retiring from the NRC, Jerome moved to Albion, Nebraska, where he lived and enjoyed spending time at Rubi’s Café, Julie’s Café, and the many ice cream treats from Shorty’s Ice Cream Shoppe. He entered the Grand Island Veterans Home in 2014. Jerome was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, VFW Post 736 of Albion, and American Legion Post 162 of which he was past commander. He loved sports, especially Nebraska Cornhuskers and baseball. He was a fan of John Wayne, western movies and country western music, and in later years, he enjoyed woodworking. He will be remembered for strong work ethic. Jerome is survived by: children, Jerome Jr. “Chuck” (Angee) Landauer, Kathy (Charles) Troia and Vicky Landauer; grandchildren, Eric (Cheryl) Landauer, Sonya Arpan, Arien Jackson and Jesse Jackson, Shena (George) Peake, Shawn Troia, Amy Bigelow, Anthony Nettles; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Stella Landauer and Betty Rech; brother-in-law, Jim Scarlett; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Becky in 1995; siblings: LaVern “Shorty”, Donald “Doc”, Irene Fisher and Mary Landauer.
