Description	:	Jerome D. Emanuel, 78, of North Bend died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln. He was born Nov. 6, 1931, in the family home in rural North Bend to Joseph and Martha (Plantenberg) Emanuel. He grew up in rural North Bend and was a graduate of Dodge High School. He was born Nov. 6, 1931, in the family home in rural North Bend to Joseph and Martha (Plantenberg) Emanuel. He grew up in rural North Bend and was a graduate of Dodge High School. He farmed northwest of North Bend. He then served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from Jan. 3, 1952, to Dec. 15, 1955, and was stationed in Japan. He played on the Air Force baseball team. After his discharge, he returned to farming. He retired in 2006 and moved into North Bend. Jerome married Lorraine Rolf on April 4, 1959, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend, Knights of Columbus Council 3736 of North Bend and American Legion Post 122 of Dodge. He previously served on the Webster School Board for several years and was a former member of the National Farmers Organization. Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Keith Emanuel of North Bend and Jeff (and wife, Stacy) Emanuel of Lincoln; three daughters, Deb (and husband, Bob) Hoppe of Tucson, Ariz., Donna (and husband, Michael) Buell of Bellevue and Diane (and husband, Gary) Anderson of Lincoln; two brothers, Duane (and wife, Mary Ann) Emanuel and Wendell (and wife, Mary Ann) Emanuel, all of North Bend; a sister, Rosanne Eikmeier of Dodge; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and an infant son. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend with the Rev. Donald Cleary officiating. Visitation will be from 2:30-7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to service time Monday, all at the church. A vigil service with a Knights of Columbus rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Clyde with the military graveside service conducted by American Legion Post 122 of Dodge. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to National Ataxia Association and to the Morse Bluff/North Bend Area Veterans Memorial Park.
