Description	:	Jerome "Jerry" Anastasi, the son of Omer and Corinne Buman Anastasi, was born in Harlan, Iowa, on April 5, 1943. He was baptized at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Harlan. The conditions of his birth and subsequent illness made it impossible for him to attend school and therefore he became a resident of the State Hospital in Glenwood, Iowa. For a short time, he lived in Illinois, then returned to Glenwood, Iowa. Read More	Jerome "Jerry" Anastasi, the son of Omer and Corinne Buman Anastasi, was born in Harlan, Iowa, on April 5, 1943. He was baptized at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Harlan. The conditions of his birth and subsequent illness made it impossible for him to attend school and therefore he became a resident of the State Hospital in Glenwood, Iowa. For a short time, he lived in Illinois, then returned to Glenwood, Iowa. As a patient, Jerry was cared for with love and compassion and lived his sixty-three years in innocence, knowing that those around him gave him peace and security. Jerry loved stuffed animals and cloth covered books especially when he received them as gifts. His daily routine allowed him to be with other patients and enjoy the staff. When family members visited Jerry, it was difficult for him to acknowledge their presence. Jerry died at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, on Friday, October 27, 2006, having attained the age of sixty-three years, six months and twenty-three days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John. Jerry is survived by his brothers and sisters; Bob and his wife Karole Anastasi of Honey Creek, Iowa, his twin sister Joan and her husband John Trygg of Omaha, Nebraska, Kathy and her husband Don Chamberlain of Harlan, Iowa, Micki Vipond of Fairfield, Connecticut, Jim and his wife Kathy Anastasi, of Clear Lake, Iowa and Carol and her husband Dennis Keller of Golden, Colorado; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Robert Hoefler at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 30, 2006, at St. Michael?s Catholic Church in Harlan, Iowa. Interment was held at the Harlan Cemetery with Joan Trygg, Kathy Chamberlain, Carol Keller, Bob Anastasi, Mickie Vipond and Jim Anastasi serving as casket bearers.
