Description	:	Jerry Michaelsen, 69, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Saturday, December 1, 2012, at his home in Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, December 5, 11:00 A.M. at St. Isidore Catholic Church with Father Louis Sojka and Father Joe Miksch concelebrating the mass. Interment will be in the All Saints Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Nebraska Kidney Foundation or Donors Choice. Jerry Michaelsen was born April 6, 1942, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Melvin and Agnes (German) Michaelsen. He grew up on a farm north of Columbus and graduated from St. Bonaventure School in Columbus. Jerry worked for Union Pacific Railroad, was a flight instructor and pilot at the Columbus Airport. He also was a salesman at Rose Novak in Omaha, and worked for Sand Livestock. He traveled for 14 years as a Right of Way agent living in Illinois, Iowa, Wyoming, Minnesota, Denver, Philadelphia, and Texas. Jerry also served in the National Guard. Jerry retired 7 years ago. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles, Elks, and the Quiet Birdmen of Nebraska. He enjoyed being with people, boating, traveling, and having lunches with family and friends.
