The funeral of Jerome McClurg, who died at his home in Rock Creek township Thursday morning, was held this afternoon at 1:30 at the Rock Creek Center church, the cortege leaving the late residence at one. Rev. J. E. Etter, pastor of the Christian church at Warren, officiated, and interment was in the cemetery near the old home place. Mr. McClurg's death followed a period on one week's confinement to his bed, during which his decline was rapid. He had been in failing health a year or more, but his condition had not been regarded as serious until about three months ago, when after stooping over while at some work in his barn lot he raised up suffering excruciating pains. Attending physicians gave no hope for recovery, and his end came gradually and peacefully. Mr. McClurg was born on the farm on which he died May 9, 1849. He was a farmer all his life and never married. Honest and industrious, he was respected by all who knew him. He was never a member of any order or church, though in sympathy with the priciples of the Christians.
