He had undergone surgery for cancer in 1958 and suffered a recurrence in February of 1961. Funeral services were conducted in Creighton at Zion Lutheran Church, Monday afternoon, Jan. 22. The Rev. Jerome Scheinost, son of Andrew and Anna Scheinost, was born April 18, 1894, at West Point. The family moved to Scio, Ore., then came to Knox County about 1900. He received his schooling in Dist. 81 east of Creighton. He farmed most of his life. In 1953, he moved to Ashland and a couple of years later to Omaha, which has since been his home. He married Anna Mattie Schaeffer on April 9, 1919, at the home of the bride's parents. Three sons were born to them. Mr. Scheinost served in the Army from June to December, 1918. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Omaha. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Earl and Paul of Omaha and Floyd of Raytown, Mo.; eight grandchildren; five brothers, Andrew of Bloomfield, Joe and William of Creighton, Dan of Norwalk, Calif., and Louis of Vancouver, Wash.; and two daughters, Mrs. Anna Paesl of Verdigre and Mrs. Agnes Maute of Creighton. He was preceded in death by his father, four brothers and two sisters. Extracted from: The Creighton News Something is wrong here...he had three sons, but survivors lists two daughters.
