Description	:	Airman Second Class Jerry D. Hamilton, 20, was killed instantly on Highway 63 near Hampton in a collision of his automobile and a school bus. The accident occurred about 7 a.m. nine miles north of New Hampton. The driver of the bus escaped injury, and there were no children in the vehicle. Jerry was on a week-end leave from the Duluth, Minnesota Air Force installation and was on his way home via Waterloo, where a friend lived. His father was vice president of Pedrick & Thorne Hardware here in Ottumwa, and Jerry had lived here in Ottumwa all his life. He was a member of First Lutheran Church. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1963 and enlisted in the Air Force on June 10, 1963, immediately after graduation. He took basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas, and other training in Texas prior to being assigned to Duluth. Jerry was survived by his parents, a sister, Jean, and two grandmothers, Mary Hamilton and Mary Allen, both of Ottumwa.
