Jerry Jay Neely memorial at St. Patrick's Cemetery ----------------------------------- Jerry Jay Neely, 62, of Chanute passed away October 27, 2004 at Chanute Health Care. He was born in San Bernadino, CA on June 5, 1942, the son of George E. and Mary (Castle) Neely. He was raised in the Earlton and Thayer area. He graduated from Thayer High School in the class of 1960. He also lived in Parsons and Altamont before moving to Chanute. He was united in marriage to Reeda Greer on April 29, 1962. They later divorced. This marriage produced one child, Jamie Loretta. He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Roush on September 9, 1985 in Iola, Kansas. She survives of the home. He was a truck driver for the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, and also drove trucks across country. He also farmed and trained horses. He was a member of the Bit & Spur Saddle Club and enjoyed camping and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Norma, of the home; one daughter Jamie Loretta and her husband Hector Pimentel of Bentonville, AR; three step-daughters, Teresa and her husband Mike Dupuy of Chanute, KS, Mary Roush of Tulsa, OK and Laura and her husband Brett Busby of Chanute, KS, one step-son Jeff and his wife Denise Roush of Hendersonville, NC; a brother, Randal Earl Neely of Chanute, KS; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; eleven step grandchildren and one step-great grandchild. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at the Living Word Assembly with Reverend Leroy Foreman officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 29, 2004 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at 1725 S. Central, Chanute. Memorials in his name may be made to the Prairie Meadows Therapeutic Riding Center, Cherry Street Youth Center or the Fire Escape Coffeehouse and may be left with the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
