Sharp of LaFollette 3 grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart and was so very proud of each one: Sarah Anne Marie Staley, Matthew Sharp Weaver and Katherine Elizabeth Weaver His baby sister-in-law Earnie James Lumpkins of Monteagle, Tn. Mr. Sharp graduated from Hiawassee College then began his career at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and later at National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, retiring after 42 years. He was the first curator of the Campbell County Historical Society Museum and Library. For his work in improving and establishing the museum and library, he received the WBIR Jefferson Award in 2002. He was a member of the "First Families of Tennessee" and also of the "First Farms of Tennessee". He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, member of the Campbell County Library Board, former member of the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce, member of Campbell Co. Masonic Lodge 778, Kerbela Shrine Temple and Jacksboro Eastern Star. Mr. Sharp received his pilots license in 1964 and loved everything about aviation. An avid historian who loved to share stories about our county, as well as helping others trace their family ancestry. He also loved to give tours through his beloved museum. He was a ham radio operator for over 70 years, and loved Norris Lake, boating and skiing. The family will receive friends Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church 5-7:30 pm. with Masonic & Funeral to follow. Rev. Ann Burnger Officiating. Family and friends will meet at Cross-Smith Funeral Home at 10:30 am Thursday and proceed to Woodlawn Cemetery for interment with Military Honors by Campbell County Honor Guard at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Campbell County Historical Society and Museum or The American Diabetes Association.
