Description	:	MINDEN — Jerry Lonn, 61, of Minden died Friday, June 27, 2014, at his home. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk with the Rev. Darrel Wissmann officiating. Burial will be later. Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements. He was born June 19, 1953, in Holdrege to David and Margaret (Wilken) Lonn. On June 8, 1975, he married Jody Everett in Holdrege. Survivors include his wife; son, Tony Lonn of upstate New York; daughters, Betty Sowles, Stephanie Lonn and Swaylana Lonn, all of Minden, and Siobhan Ritterbush of Kearney; grandchildren, Anais, Sonny, Billy Jr., Kalista, Hunter and Kathryn; brother, Paul Lonn and wife, Beverly, of La Vista; sister, Ruth Mitchell of California; mother-in-law, Marlys Sundquist and her husband, Ron, of Holdrege; and sister-in-law, Melanie Quackenbush and her husband, Dale, of Lincoln. He grew up in the Holdrege area and graduated from Holdrege High School. Jerry moved to Lincoln for a short time and then returned to Holdrege and went to work for Burlington Northern as a section laborer. He married Jody at Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege. They moved to Minden in 1982. Jerry retired in 2012 because of failing health. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden. Jerry was a devoted husband, and his wife was his best friend. Some of Jerry's fondest and proudest times were serving as Scoutmaster of Troop 199 in Minden for many years. He was dedicated to his job and enjoyed riding his Harley, camping, fishing, hunting and canoeing. He loved being outside and enjoyed nature. He loved being involved with his children's activities. Jerry and Jody also were foster parents for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Neva; and an infant brother, Dale.
