Description	:	Jerry McKray Owens GREENVILLE -- Mr. Owens, 72, passed away March 16, 2011. He was born on January 6, 1939 in Edgecombe Co., NC to Roney Lee and Hattie Lucille Owens. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 52 years, Betty Barnes Owens; a grandson, William McCrae Baucom; and two brothers, Wiley Lee and Douglas Lee Owens. Read More	Jerry McKray Owens GREENVILLE -- Mr. Owens, 72, passed away March 16, 2011. He was born on January 6, 1939 in Edgecombe Co., NC to Roney Lee and Hattie Lucille Owens. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 52 years, Betty Barnes Owens; a grandson, William McCrae Baucom; and two brothers, Wiley Lee and Douglas Lee Owens. Mr. Owens was a member of People's Baptist Church for the past five years and prior to that, Bible Baptist Church in Charlotte for over 30 years. He was very active in the church, serving as Deacon and Shepherd of Super Saints. He was the Sunday School Superintendent and on the board of Trustees. Jerry was employed by Duke Energy as an Engineer and retired after 21 years of service. He was a man who loved and served the Lord and taught his children to do the same. Survivors include his son, Gary McKray Owens and wife, Mary, of Charlotte; three daughters, Jo Anne Baucom and husband, Eddie, of Charlotte; Sheila Renee Bomar and husband, Mike, of Winterville; and Cindy D. Osborne and husband, Donnie, of Grayson, GA; one brother, James Larris Owens, of Durham; grandchildren, Curtis and Adam Johnson and Garrett Owens, Sarah, Shawn and Rachel Bomar, Sherrill Anne, Samuel and Wesley Baucom, Landon and Carson Osborne; great-grandchildren, Brody Brown and Hannah Johnson; and many other loving family members and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 3:00pm at People's Baptist Church in Greenville, NC. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 2-3 at the church. Burial will be in Queen Anne Cemetery, Fountain, NC. Arrangements by Farmer Funeral Service, 109 Second Street, Ayden, NC 28513.
