He had suffered a stroke in April 2005. Born Sept. 21, 1946, in Ottumwa, he was the son of Murl and Madelyn Elsensohn Carr. He married Linda Smith. They later divorced. He had suffered a stroke in April 2005. Born Sept. 21, 1946, in Ottumwa, he was the son of Murl and Madelyn Elsensohn Carr. He married Linda Smith. They later divorced. Mr. Carr worked as a livestock buyer, seed salesman and in truck sales. He moved to Madelia in 1981. He graduated from Van Buren High School in 1964. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and casino trips with his family. Survivors include two daughters, Shari Nelson of St. James, Minn., and Cindy Larson of Eagan, Minn.; two sons, Curtis Carr of St. James, Minn., and Andy Carr of Manchester, N.H.; his mother of Cantril; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Jane Graf of Bloomfield. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister in infancy. The funeral for Mr. Carr will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, Iowa. The graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Leando Cemetery in Douds, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. A memorial has been established.
