Jerry Owen Costello was born on January 14, 1956 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Cecil and Sylvia (Jorgensen) Costello. He was a 1974 graduate of Delmar High School. He married Susan Kay Stamp on June 2, 1979 in Delmar, Iowa. She preceded him in death on March 1, 1998. After graduating from high school, Jerry worked in the foundry for 10 years at John Deere in Moline, Illinois. He then began a career in farming with a strong affection towards pigs and cattle. He farmed in the Codfish Hollow area until 2000. Jerry loved to travel in the RV all over the United States. He also loved to ride his motorcycle and he adored his dog Cody. Jerry was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Maquoketa. Jerry is survived by his children, Tiffany (Shawn) Biehl of Maquoketa, IA, Josh (Deborah) Costello of Las Vegas, NV, Amy (Luke) Snowden of Des Moines, IA, and Jared Costello of Baltimore, MD; 9 grandchildren; his partner of 11 years, Sherri Wood of Thomson, IL; his mother, Sylvia Costello of Delmar, IA; brothers, Joe (Patricia) Costello of Ankeny, IA, Jim (Mary) Costello of Fairbank, IA, John Costello of Princeton, IL, and Pat (Sherry) Costello of Clarksville, IN; and Susan (Rich) Kunde of Maquoketa, IA. He was preceded in death by his father and his wife. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Jerry O. Costello memorial fund has been established.
