Description	:	Jerry T. Skillman was born at Seward, Nebr., September 6, 1866, and departed this life at Lexington, Nebr., June 29, 1931, at the age of 64 years, 8 months and 23 days. His father, Thomas Skillman, was one of the early settlers of Seward county, and Jerry had the distinction of being the first white child to be born on Lincoln Creek. He grew to manhood in the environment of the new country and on June 20, 1889, was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Birney, a teacher in the public schools of Seward. Skillman was born at Seward, Nebr., September 6, 1866, and departed this life at Lexington, Nebr., June 29, 1931, at the age of 64 years, 8 months and 23 days. His father, Thomas Skillman, was one of the early settlers of Seward county, and Jerry had the distinction of being the first white child to be born on Lincoln Creek. He grew to manhood in the environment of the new country and on June 20, 1889, was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Birney, a teacher in the public schools of Seward. To this union was born one child, Cleon B. Skillman, of Lexington. He was a keen judge of good horse flesh, being connected with that business for a number of years.In 1902 the family left Seward and settled on a ranch at Pleasanton, Nebr., and in 1919 made another change to Lexington, Nebr., where they now reside.Jerry was baptized in the Methodist church and at the time of his death was a member of the Presbyterian church. He was also affiliated with the Masonic lodge, being a member of the Scottish Rite and Mystic Shrine. He was a kind and loving husband and father and was generous to a fault. He was taken with paralysis in June, 1928, and everything available to medical science and the benefit of climatic change were done for him, but to no avail. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and son and daughter-in-law, besides a host of other relatives and a wide circle of friends. Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. P. M. Orr of the First Presbyterian church. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery.
