Jess Delmar Welsh was born May 18, 1911 in Clayton County, the son of Melvin and Elsie Hook Welsh. He was educated in the local schools. He married in 1936 and a daughter, Janice was born to this union. He farmed in the Fredericksburg and Tripoli areas and was an oil distributor in Waucoma and Alpha areas for many years. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Elsie Welsh, Greeley; daughter (Janice) Mrs. Roger Stedman; 5 grandchildren; 4 brothers and 3 sisters; Gilbert Welsh, Sumner; Dennis Welsh, Colesburg; Cecil Welsh, Elkader; Melvin Welsh, Dubuque; Mrs. Robert Ross, Greeley; Mrs. Doran Phillips, Sacramento, Calif. and Mrs. Marvin Menge, Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his father, sister Dorothy and a grandson. Waterloo Daily Courier - May 5, 1972 WAUCOMA - Services for Jess Welsh, 60, who died Wednesday night at the Sumner Community Hospital will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Federated Church of Waucoma; survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Roger Steadman of West Union and Linda Welsh of Tripoli; his mother, Mrs. Elsie Welsh of Waucoma,; four brothers, Gilbert of Sumner, Dennis of Millville, Cecil of Elkader and Melvin of Dubuque; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Ross of Greeley, Mrs. Doran Phillips, Sacramento, Calif. and Mrs. Marvin Minge of Cedar Rapids and five grandchildren; Emerson-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye in charge.
