Description	:	Jess Stickler Jess Gerald Stickler, 84, of Centerville died Thursday, Feb. 8, 1996, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He was born Feb. 17, 1911, in Plano, the son of Jacob and Mary (Reeves) Stickler. He married Nellie Coates April 4, 1930, in Walnut City. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, Gerald and Dot Stickler, Ralph and Marilyn Stickler, Dick and Beverly Stickler and Joe and Paula Stickler, all of Centerville; two daughters, Mrs. Merrille (Mary) Porter of Des Moines and Mrs. Don (Joanie) DeGroot of Runnells; 13 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; stepfather, Alvin Moore; three, brothers; and three sisters. He worked in coal mines in his younger years and started farming in the early 1960s. He worked on the farm until retiring in 1988. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Lange Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Sebolt officiating. Burial will be in the Elgin Cemetery in Mystic. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Friday. Friends may call all day Friday and Saturday morning.
