Funeral services were Monday at 10 a.m. at First Reformed Church in Hull. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull. Mrs. Groeneweg was born April 11, 1913 in rural Hull, the daughter of William and Clara (Heimstra) Van Sloten. She was raised at Hull, where she graduated from the Christian School and attended Western Christian High School. Her family moved to Rock Valley when she was 13. Funeral services were Monday at 10 a.m. at First Reformed Church in Hull. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull. Mrs. Groeneweg was born April 11, 1913 in rural Hull, the daughter of William and Clara (Heimstra) Van Sloten. She was raised at Hull, where she graduated from the Christian School and attended Western Christian High School. Her family moved to Rock Valley when she was 13. She married Walter Groeneweg in Jan. 1933. They made their home in Hull. He died August 21, 1964 in Houston, TX. She moved to Sioux Center in August of 1999. She was a member of First Reformed Church. She devoted her life to caring for a special son, and her grandchildren were very important to her. Survivors include her four sons, Wallace, Ronald, William & Verlyn; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Marlene Bajema of Rock Valley and Patty Garrison of Chino, CA. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Annetta Corwin; and four brothers, William, Robert and Don Van Sloten, and an infant brother, Robert.
