Description	:	Jesse/Jessie Brown was born in Rowan County, NC, the 3rd of 4 known surviving children born to Daniel Brown and his (2nd) wife Anna Ribelin. He removed to Raleigh where he established himself as a merchant before the Civil War, and on October 31, 1835 married Lavina McPheeters, daughter of the Dr. Rev. William McPheeters of Raleigh. The couple resided in Raleigh throughout their lives together, and had no known children. Jesse died in 1884 at age 80 and his wife followed a year later, passing in 1885.
