Description	:	Jesse B Parks was the son of Lucinda Davis and Ambrose Parks he was born on September 19, 1846 in Jellico, TN. Jesse enlisted as a Private in the Union Army during the Civil War, serving under Capt. Lee Leforce. (Jesse was the father -in- law of Lee's niece) Enlistment Date is July 17, 1863 or August 15, 1863 @ Somerset, KY Company G 49th Infantry Regiment Camp Nelson. Mustered out December 26, 1864 Lexington, KY. His description at the time was 42 yrs old, 5’7", fair complexion, light hair with blue eyes. While serving he contracted a severe cold resulting in disease of repertory organs caused from exposure to camp life. Also while in the line of duty at Burnsides Point State of KY in the month of Feb. 1864. Jesse's 1st marriage was to Mary Perkins Snyder on Oct 10, 1869. Jesse was 23 and Mary was 26.Together they had six children William, Ambrose, Fado, Lorenza Dow, Susan Jane and Ancil. Jesse was also a Step-Father to Mary's daughter Rhoanna who was 7 when her mother married Jesse. Rhoanna's father Simon was killed in the Civil War. Mary died in 1912 at the age of 69 from a heart attack. They were married 43 yrs. 2nd Marriage to Julia Lewallen November 5th, 1913. Together they had two daughter's Nannie and Jessie. Jesse was 67 when they married and Julia was 32. They were married for 10 yrs until his death. Jesse passed away on April 29, 1924 at the age of 77 from cirrhosis of the liver in Paint Lick, KY. Parks went to the mountains last week on a prospecting tour. --------------------- The Central Record Oct 27, 1905 (Lancaster, KY) Jesse B. Parks, was placed on the ballot for Prohibition candidate for representative. ------------------------ The Interior Journal Jan 4, 1910 (Stanford, KY) Mr. Jesse B. Parks a farmer living in Garrard, had the misfortune to fall and dislocated his hip, while driving hogs. In trying to retain his feet he fell a second time and rolled down the hill into a branch, where there was considerable water. His son, who was present, was unable to get his father out in his injured condition and had to call assistance. Mr. Parks is in very dangerous condition. Parks was appointed Magistrate in Garrard County. ----------------------- The Central Record Sept 1, 1911 (Lancaster, KY) Land Brings Good Price Mr. Jesse B. Parks who a few yrs ago purchased 175 acres of the J. Wade Walker farm on the Richmond pike 3 miles SE of Paint Lick, paying $75. per acre therefor, has sold that farm to Center Bros, of Clay county for $125 per acre, possession to be given Jan 1, 1912. This is second in quality to no farm in Garrard county. ------------------------ The Central Record Nov 24, 1911 (Lancaster, KY) Buys Farm In Shelby Mr. Jesse B. Parks and his son L. D. Parks have purchased a farm of 261 acres in Shelby county Ky., paying $60 per acre therefor. They will take possession on Jan 1st.
