Description	:	Jesse Jordon Lawter, 79, of Chesnee, SC, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at his residence. A native of Chesnee, he was the husband of Kate (Walker) Lawter and a son of the late William J. and Mamie (Gore) Lawter. A Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II, he was a former Mason, Shriner, member of the VFW Post 9539, owner and operator of Lawter Plumbing Company for over 17 years until his retirement, a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church and the Senior Mens Sunday School Class. A native of Chesnee, he was the husband of Kate (Walker) Lawter and a son of the late William J. and Mamie (Gore) Lawter. A Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II, he was a former Mason, Shriner, member of the VFW Post 9539, owner and operator of Lawter Plumbing Company for over 17 years until his retirement, a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church and the Senior Mens Sunday School Class. Mr. Lawter was predeceased by three daughters, Linda Kaye Lawter, Judy Lawter Dillard, Donna Lawter Culbreth; a sister, Ellie Cantrell; and two brothers, Andrew and Norman Lawter. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara West of Spartanburg; a son, David Buddy Lawter of Chesnee; a sister, Mazie Greene of Cowpens; two brothers, Hollis and Dean Lawter, both of Chesnee; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family received friends Saturday, March 15, 2003 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Home in Chesnee. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2003, at Buck Creek Baptist Church conducted by Revs. Odell Mosley, Joe Walker, and Melvin Hudson. Interment followed in Springhill Memorial Gardens. Flowers were accepted or memorials could be made to the Cancer Center of the Carolinas, 11 Doctors Park, Suite 200, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
