Description	:	Jesse Kluttz was the sixth of thirteen known children of Wendel (Wendle?) Kluttz (1797-1854) and Christina Kluttz (1808-1858) (his cousin?), who married 21 Mar 1821 in North Carolina. Jesse married first to Sarah Elizabeth Mary Smith (c1830-c1866) on 06 Oct 1853 at Rowan County, North Carolina. Jesse and Sarah were the parents of four known children, namely: 1. Nancy (Nannie) Lutitia Kluttz Kerns (1856-1935) 2. Annie Augustus Kluttz Long (1858-1916) 3. Hariette (Hattie) Cordelia Kluttz Powers (1859-1916) 4. Descendant Raye Rufty Ratliff supplied the following: Parents were Wendel Kluttz (this is the correct spelling and Christina Kluttz (her maiden name) Kluttz (her married name). Wendel 1797-1854 is buried at Union Lutheran Church, Salisbury, NC. Christina 1808-1858 also buried at Union. They had 13 children and Jesse is the 6th. Wendel is was the son of Johan Jacob Kluttz III (1760-1827, buried at Organ Lutheran Church, NC) - part of the line of Johann Jacob Klotz Sr (1st), "The Immigrant" - 1690-1751 who was born in Germany and immigrated to the US with wife and 4 surviving children in 1749. Jesse's son, George Adam Kluttz, was my grandfather, as his daughter Annie Elizabeth Kluttz Rufty is my mother. I have Jesse's tin-type CSA photo and Daughters of the Confederacy's Confederate (service) Cross - and more details about his service, wound (shot in the leg), etc. IN CASE YOU ARE INTERESTED. The DoC's Confederate Cross by his grave was secured by welding in 1993 after my mother's death. My family paid to have a welder weld all the Confederate crosses in place to prevent theft. Union's cemetery has many crosses whereas many have been stolen over the years.
