Description	:	Jesse Lee Poole, 86, went to be with his Lord on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at Hillcrest Hospital in Simpsonville, after battling declining health for the past two years. He was born in Spartanburg County to the late Johnnie Martindale Poole and Janie Riddle Poole. He was the husband of Ruth Skinner Poole and the late Cassie Mildred Hawkins Poole. He is survived by three children, Paula Poole Sloan and husband, Charles P., Rita Poole Owens and husband, K. Bruce, and John Manley Poole and wife, Mary Adair Poole, all of Gray Court; seven grandchildren, Pamela Denice Sloan-Blair and Jason Matthew Sloan, the Rev. Kenneth B. Owens Jr. and Julie, Janie Kay de la Moriniere and the Rev. Keith, the Rev. Wil Owens and Summer, Jessica Raye Burris and Ryan, and John Manley Poole II; and 10 great-grandchildren, Nye, Kayla, Noah, Christian, Caleb, Cassie, Talitha, Shane, Katelyn, and Nolan. Also surviving are four stepchildren, Vonda Skinner Skelton and husband, Gary, Gail Skinner Phillips, Laura Raye Dockins, and Scott David Skinner and wife, Kaye; six stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Riddle of Gray Court, Carrie Lou Fuller of Laurens, and Ethel Beasley of Wetumpka, Ala. He was also predeceased by three sisters, Lavelle Fortenberry, Permelia Canady, and Mary Kate Kennedy; four brothers, J.B. Poole, Irby Poole, Judson Poole, and Carl Poole; and a grandson, Charles Elliott Sloan. Mr. Poole served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and was stationed in Italy, Africa, and many other locations. He was a farmer, a former employee of J.P. Stevens Watts Plant, and was a retired sewing machine mechanic from Her Majesty in Mauldin. His favorite hobby was woodworking. He accepted the Lord at 17 years of age and then faithfully served at Warrior Creek Baptist Church in Gray Court as a deacon, youth leader, training union director, prayer chain chairman, and was a member of the choir and Brotherhood. He served on several mission trips, building churches and repairing homes. Mr. Poole, his first wife, children, and several grandchildren formed the Poole Family Gospel Singers and were involved in several prison ministries. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at Warrior Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. George Stockman, the Rev. Kenneth Owens, and the Rev. Wil Owens, with burial in the church cemetery, with military honors. The family will be at the home, 140 Riddle Town Road, Gray Court, and will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at The Kennedy Mortuary.
