Mrs. Jesse Anders Laid To Rest On August 2nd Mrs. Jesse (Ida Mae) Anders, who passed away Saturday, July 30th, was laid to rest on Tuesday, August 2, 1960, the funeral services being held from the Church of Christ in Cozad, with the pastor, Ed Maertena in charge Music was furnished by Mrs. Lowell Rose and Mrs. Norris Petersen, with Mrs. Wm. Laird as organist. Casket bearers were Roy Powell, Earl Potter, Chas. G. Knauss, Royal Vasey, W. T. Thompson and Ralph Ford. The Priscilla Rebekah Lodge had charge of the Committal Rites at the grave in the Cozad cemetery. Ida Mae Henry, the daughter of Absalom and Josephine Shannon Henry, was born at Maysville, Missouri, on September 15, 1878, and passed away in Lexington, Nebraska, on Jul 20, 1960, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 15 days. When around four years of age Ida Mae accompanied her parents to Lexington, then Plum Creek, Nebraska, where they settled at first. Later the family home was moved on a farm between Lexington and Cozad. Ida Mae was graduated from the Lexington high school. On March 23, 1903, Miss Henry and Jesse Anders were married at the home of a friend in Lexington. They resided for a number of years in Aurora, Nebraska, and the returned to Lexington, where Mr. Anders was engaged in business. Then for a few years they homesteaded at Merino, Colorado, and in the year 1921, the moved to the farm northeast of Cozad, which has been the family home ever since. Mrs. Anders was baptized into Christ in the Lexington Christian Church many years ago. In later years she transferred her membership to the Cozad church, where she was faithful in attendance and in service until her health failed. For a number of years she was a member of Priscilla Rebekah lodge and had served as Noble Grand. She had been awarded the Degree of Chivalry by the Rebekahs. Always devoted to her family and home, and ever thoughtful and considerate of others, Mrs. Anders was a true friend and good neighbor. During the years of their married life Mr. and Mrs. Anders took eight young folks into their home. Among those who were privileged to make their home with the Anders in past years were: Blanch Anders, Lawrence Anders, Irene Anders, now Mrs. Ed Roe of Cozad, Betty Conlin, now Mrs. Mike Reiners; John and Jacob Kirkpatrick; Joseph Kirkpatrick (now Mrs. Annen of Cleveland, Ohio) and David Kirkpatrick. Mrs. Anders was preceded in death by her husband, who died August 5, 1959; her parents, three brothers, James, Joseph and Edward Henry; one sister, Sarah Elizabeth Henry; and one foster son, Jacob Kirkpatrick. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nora Nelson of Cozad, who made her home with the Anders for many years; a foster son, John Kirkpatrick to Overton; several nieces and nephews; two foster grandchildren, Mrs. Josephine Annen of Cleveland, Ohio, and Corporal David Kirkpatrick, U. S. Marine Corps, now stationed in Okinawa and a host of friends.
