EARL KELCH – Jessie Irene Dutcher, first of seven children of Dennis D. and Cora May Dutcher, was born at Burress, Neb., September 17, 1899. She was called to the invisible realms of God from Geneva, Neb., May 31, 1935, at the age of 35 years, 8 months and 14 days. She attended the public school and graduated from the Exeter school and graduated from the Exeter high school with the class of 1918. After her graduation she taught in Fillmore county public schools for two years in July, 1921, she moved with her parents to Fleming, Col. February 27, 1922, at Sterling, Col., she was married to Earl J. Kelch of Geneva, Neb., and returned with him to take up their endeavors together on a farm near Geneva. To them was given one child, a daughter, Cora Irene, born May 18, 1935, and who was called to the eternal realms the same day. Surviving Mrs. Kelch are her husband, Earl J. Kelch of Geneva, Neb., her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis D. Dutcher of Fleming, Col., two brothers, Glen D. and Derryl D. Dutcher of Fleming, Col.; five nephews, two nieces; other relatives and a host of friends to mourn her untimely passing. Mrs. Jessie Irene Kelch was a woman of high ideals and noble character. Early in life she caught the vision of the better life. At the age of fifteen she confessed Christ as her personal savior and was baptized in the Exeter Christian church by her uncle, Rev. John Hull, and since that time she has exercised a constancy of faith and earnest endeavor to live according to Christian teachings as shown by her beautiful life of loving kindness to her husband, her folk and friends. She was a most loving and kind, helpful wife and mother whose love and spirit linger to be cherished forever by a loving husband, parents, brothers, sisters, other relatives and friends. Her sudden passing is a crushing shock to those who survive, but they have the assurance that "The peace of God that passeth understanding" is hers for eternity and earth's present loss is heaven's gain. The funeral service was held in the United Brethren church of Geneva at 3 p. m. Sunday, June 2, 1935. The pastor, Rev. H. J. Plymesser, officiated. Beautiful piano and vocal music was furnished by Dr. Claire Owens and Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Clarke of Exeter. Hymns sung were "There'll Be No Disappointments in Heaven," "The Old Rugged Cross," "Good Night and Good Morning." The minister read selected portions of scripture from Proverbs 31, Psalms, Matt 5, and John 14. The text was taken from John 14:2. The sermon subject was "Immortality." A large number of fiends filled the church auditorium, including the adjacent class room, and about fifty were seated in the gallery. A large and beautiful array of flowers gave eloquent expression of the love and esteem felt in the hearts of folk and friends. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
