Jessie Jean Campbell was born on May 4, 1929, on the family farm south of Watford City to Wilbur and Esther (Madison) Campbell. Read More	Jessie Jean Stenberg, Watford City, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Bethel Lutheran Home, Williston, with family at her side. Jessie Jean Campbell was born on May 4, 1929, on the family farm south of Watford City to Wilbur and Esther (Madison) Campbell. A few years later the family grew by one with the birth of her sister, Wilma. Jessie attended school at Twin Buttes School, and graduated from Watford City High School in 1947. She worked as a clerk at Lundin Drug in Watford, and also served as a fill-in teacher at Hoffman School, which she enjoyed, however it was an experience that taught her that “she didn’t want to be a teacher.” At school, she met Raymond Stenberg. They were married Dec. 26, 1948, at Wilmington Lutheran Church, Arnegard. Their life revolved around running the service station, Ray’s Standard Service, raising their four sons and attending their sporting events. She was the bookkeeper for the business, and the boys all did their time working at the station, making it truly a family business. Jessie was a member of First Lutheran Church in Watford City, where she was active as a Sunday School superintendent, the quilting ladies, and ladies circles. She was also a member of a homemaker’s club. After a time at the hospital in Bismarck, she moved to Bethel Lutheran Home in October of 2015. She was loved by all who cared for her there and those who came in contact with her at the home. Jessie loved feeding the birds and gardening. She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, even having to pay extra at Bethel Lutheran Home for cable TV so she could watch the Twins games on TV. Her grandsons enjoyed watching the games with her when they were visiting in the summer, and teasing her about whether the Twins would take the pennant this year! Jessie was a loving mother to her four sons and her three daughters in law, and a loving and generous grandmother to her seven grandchildren, all of whom are left with a hole in their hearts that no one else will be able to fill. Her grandsons enjoyed visiting with her when they visited Watford and hearing her stories about her childhood. Her older granddaughters enjoyed traveling to Watford City to visit Grandma Jessie and getting to bake with her. Her granddaughters from Williston always enjoyed the weekends they got to spend with Grandma, playing card games, coloring, and watching “Polka Party” on TV. Jessie is survived by her four sons, Donald of Watford City; Robert (Mona) of Bozeman, MT; Richard (Mary), Williston; and David (Kim) of Kalispell, MT; by her seven grandchildren, Zach of Bozeman; Michael (Cara) of Seattle, WA; Jessica and Jackie, Kalispell; and Kathryn, Rose and Eleanor of Williston; two cousins; as well as nieces and nephews, Cheryl Rogness, Debra Rogness, Lonnie Rogness, Carlyle Stenberg, Glenda Stenberg, Sharon Zubke, Steve Stenberg, Judy Stenberg and Betty Ellingson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Esther Campbell; her beloved husband, Ray; her sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Alvin Rogness; and her grandson, Maxwell Stenberg.
