Description	:	Jessie Smith Aden Jessie Leah Smith was born on October 6, 1888 in Dorchester. She was the daughter of John T. Smith and Ettie Johnson Smith. On April 28, 1909, she was united in holy matrimony with Gerhard Aden of Sterling. This union was blessed with four sons and three daughters, all of whom survive. She was the daughter of John T. Smith and Ettie Johnson Smith. On April 28, 1909, she was united in holy matrimony with Gerhard Aden of Sterling. This union was blessed with four sons and three daughters, all of whom survive. After her marriage she became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Sterling and has been a faithful member ever since. She and her husband lived in the Adams-Sterling vicinity all of their married life and in 1948 they moved to Adams. Over five years ago Mr. and Mrs. Aden celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mrs. Aden passed away Thursday, February 18, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, having reached the age of 76 years, 4 months and 12 days. She is survived by her husband, Gerhard Aden of Adams; four sons, Clarence of Milford, William and Galen of Adams; three daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Boslau of Millard, Mrs. Aladine Boslau of Homedale, Ida., and Mrs. Donna Jean Happel of Ames. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She was a loving wife and mother, a also a dear friend and a loving neighbor to all. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Ladies' Aid. She was preceded in death by a brother, Glen and by a sister, Blanche. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, February 21, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Adams at 2:00 o'clock, preceded by a short prayer service at the Gerhard Aden home, Rev. Arthur Wittrock, pastor, officiating. The church choir sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Abide With Me." Pall bearers were: Byron Boslau, Paul Baslau, Richard Anderson, Larry Giesmann, Larry Larken and Clifford Mahler. Interment was in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, one mile north of Sterling.
