This past Monday would have been... Read More	Jessie Becker, 86 Posted: Wednesday, Sep 10, 2008 Lifelong Libby resident Jessie Becker, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at Libby Care Center. She was born to Sylvia and Eugene Scott on March 8, 1922. She and her brothers, Wally and Gary, attended schools in Troy. She graduated from Troy High School in 1939. On Sept. 1, 1939, she married Wilford Becker. The couple lived in Libby and worked together to build their lifelong home 1 board at a time. They went on to raise three children, Rick, Tom and Kristy. This past Monday would have been their 69th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Becker were dedicated to family and loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, boating and camping were enjoyed and for many years, the couples cabin on Middle Thompson Lake was a much-loved gathering point for the entire family and their many friends. Called Grandma Jessie, she loved to have her family around her to share stories. Her kids and later grand kids would catch sunfish and perch by the dozens out at the lake and she would spend hours cleaning, skinning and cooking them. Over many summers, she taught her children and grandchildren how to hook a worm, sharpen a stick for hot dogs or marshmellows, and swim without a life jacket. Mrs. Becker was a fixture in the Libby community and took part in many activities, including the annual arts and crafts fair, where her ceramics booth was a staple for many years. In her living room, she rocked many hours away, gazing across the street at the Central School playground while knitting countless hats, mittens and sweaters for her grandchildren. For more than 45 years, she operated a ceramics studio and taught classes. She was a member of the Red Hat Mommas and St. Josephís Catholic Church choir where her singing talents were heard for many decades. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvia and Eugene; her husband, Wilford; her brother, Wally; and her grandson, Troy. She is survived by her brother, Gary; her children Rick (and wife Karen), Tom, and Kristy (and husband Sam); her grandchildren, Scott, Mark, Paul, Zachare, Terra, Matt and Kim; and many great-grandchildren and friends.Mass of the Resurrection was held Friday, Sept. 5 at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Libby. Interment followed at City of Libby Cemetery.
