A life resident of Des Moines County, Mrs. Ping had lived in the Kingston vicinity for the past 30 years. She was the daughter of Elijah and Sarah Lusk Lyons, and was born Oct. 7, 1870. A life resident of Des Moines County, Mrs. Ping had lived in the Kingston vicinity for the past 30 years. She was the daughter of Elijah and Sarah Lusk Lyons, and was born Oct. 7, 1870. She received her education at Kossuth academy, near Mediapolis. On Jan. 5, 1889, she was married to Samuel LeRoy Ping, who died in 1939. Mrs. Ping was a member of the Kingston Methodist church. Surviving are a son, Roy Ping, Winfield; 3 daughters: Besse Ping, Kingston; Jean Ping, Ottumwa; and Mrs. Lesley Brockway, Burlington; a grandson, and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Luella Fowkes, of Springfield, Ill., and a brother, Bert Lyons of Burlington. A son, Clayton D. Ping, died in 1933, and 2 other children died in infancy. Last rites were held at the Mediapolis Methodist Church at 1:30 Monday afternoon. Dr. George G. Hunt, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant, officiated. Burial was in Old Stone cemetery, near Dodgeville.
