Description	:	Jessie Brougher Bratz was a traditional woman thrust into an unusual situation for a woman of her times. Divorced, with two small children, she briefly left her children with her parents to attend school to learn to be a seamstress. She left school to return to her children and opened a restaurant in Stanford, Montana, several hours from home. Divorced, with two small children, she briefly left her children with her parents to attend school to learn to be a seamstress. She left school to return to her children and opened a restaurant in Stanford, Montana, several hours from home. There she met Emil Bratz who was the proprietor of the local billiard parlor and 12 years her senior. They married and moved to Fort Benton, Montana, where Emil opened another billiard parlor. Jessie had a lunch counter in Emil's store. The need to have a little income of her own stayed a desire of her heart. She had several inventions that she had applied for patents. One was a pull-down lamp that hung from picture frame molding. Jessie had three children with Emil. They lived in Fort Benton until World War II when they moved to Great Falls, Montana. They bought property and became landlords with several rentals throughout the city. This gave them the opportunity to travel and have a certain amount of freedom. They lived in California briefly in the 50's to be closer to their daughter, but found they disliked the California life-style. They returned to Montana and remained there for the rest of their lives. In addition to the children linked below, Jessie had a daughter, Irene Lucille Bratz Wykofka (1922-2002).
