Description	:	Jesse Orme, deceased, the subject of this obituary notice written for record in the Old Settler's Obituary, for this and adjoining counties, was born in Anarandle County, Maryland, April 2, 1819. When 11 years of age, in company with the family, moved to Grundy County, Ohio, thence at the age of 19 in Knox County, same state. He was married to Nancy Disney in 1850, and came to Iowa the next year settling in Warren County, thence to Taylor in 1858, and from there to Adams in 1865. Read More	Jesse Orme, deceased, the subject of this obituary notice written for record in the Old Settler's Obituary, for this and adjoining counties, was born in Anarandle County, Maryland, April 2, 1819. When 11 years of age, in company with the family, moved to Grundy County, Ohio, thence at the age of 19 in Knox County, same state. He was married to Nancy Disney in 1850, and came to Iowa the next year settling in Warren County, thence to Taylor in 1858, and from there to Adams in 1865. During these years deceased served in various official, three terms as supervisor in Taylor and two in this county, besides other minor positions, all of which were filled with credit to himself and to the best interests of his constituents. Brother Orme united with the M. E. Church a the age of 23 years, but was decidedly nonsectarian and often so expressed himself to the writer. He was broad minded and exceedingly charitable in his religious views, deprecating creeds and favoring union of all christian denominations. At the time of his decease he was past 76 years old and to him the call came suddenly, but to many not unexpectedly, as his health and strength had been failing for some years. He was stricken with paralysis on December 1, from the effects of which he never rallied, passing away on the 3rd. A farmer by occupation, he had, by industry and economy, accumulated a fine property, consisting of 300 acres of well improved land, one of the best farms in Adams County. It may well be said of Jesse Orme, that he was not only a pioneer settler, and entitled to a kindly memorial notice in the old settler's obituary record, but in addition that he was a man of unimpeachable character and usefulness, a kind husband and father, greatly admired and respected by all who knew him. Of his children there now survive him, W. A. Orme, of Council Bluffs, F. D. Orme, of Oregon, Mrs. J. W. Goodsell, and F. J. Orme, both of whom reside on the farm near Nodaway. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church in Nodaway, Rev. R. C. Rowley, Presbyterian minister of Brooks, assisted by Rev. Bohonsbelt, Methodist minister of Villisca, officiating.
