Born in Union, she was the widow of the late John Elliott Hughes, Jr. and daughter of the late Earl Garner and Mildred Foster Garner. She was a graduate of Hickory Grove High School, attended Limestone College, retired from Buford Street Drugs, and was a member of Abingdon Creek Baptist Church. Read More	Gaffney, SC - - Jettie Garner Hughes, 86, of 4246 Wilkinsville Highway, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at her residence. Born in Union, she was the widow of the late John Elliott Hughes, Jr. and daughter of the late Earl Garner and Mildred Foster Garner. She was a graduate of Hickory Grove High School, attended Limestone College, retired from Buford Street Drugs, and was a member of Abingdon Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Roy Hughes and Elliott Hughes, both of Gaffney; a brother, Ralph Garner of Gaffney; three sisters, Ann Peeler, Faye Pridmore, both of Gaffney, and June Black of New Ellenton, SC; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Lee Garner of Gaffney and Doris Goforth Garner of Isle of Palms; three grandchildren, Jay Hughes, John Hughes and fiancé, Kalli Barron, and Ashley Hughes; two great-grandsons, Bryson Hughes and Waylon Hughes; a special caregiver, Tammy Mullinax. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Hughes, five brothers, Roy Garner, Ledley Garner, Ray Garner, Boyd Garner and Harold Garner and two sisters, Ruby Garner Lowry and Thelma Garner Brown. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bill Jones officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: American Cancer Society, Cherokee Co. Unit, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615 or Hospice Care of SC, 1612 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC 29340 or Abingdon Creek Baptist Church, 187 Abingdon Road, Gaffney, SC 29340.
