Description	:	Jimmie Leroy DeBoef was born on May 16, 1946 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He is the third child of twelve born to William and Martha Roozenboom DeBoef. Jim, as he is known, spent his early childhood years on farms near Oskaloosa, and then at ten years old, his family moved to Leighton. While in Leighton at age twelve, his legs were badly burned in an accident. He spent three months in the hospital and missed a grade in school. Read More	Jimmie Leroy DeBoef was born on May 16, 1946 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He is the third child of twelve born to William and Martha Roozenboom DeBoef. Jim, as he is known, spent his early childhood years on farms near Oskaloosa, and then at ten years old, his family moved to Leighton. While in Leighton at age twelve, his legs were badly burned in an accident. He spent three months in the hospital and missed a grade in school. During this time, his love and interest for music, nature and the sciences grew. He graduated from Pella Christian High in 1965 and then Dordt College in 1969. While at Dordt, Jim met Gracia Arlene Hoogland and they were united in marriage on August 30, 1968 in Luverne, Minnesota. After Jim and Gracia were married, they called Sioux Center home as Gracia finished college and Jim taught 7th and 8th grade Science at the Christian Grade School. While in Sioux Center, Julie Lyn was born in 1970 and Brent Alan was born in 1973. After spending six years in Sioux Center, they moved to Ontario, California where Jim took a teaching position at the Christian School there. In 1978, they moved to Pella, Iowa where Jim worked at the Christian Opportunity Center heading up the workshop program for seven years. In 1985, Jim began teaching junior high at Pella Christian Grade School for the next 21 years and experienced the birth of their third child, Andrea Beth in 1986. Jim lost his wife, Gracia, in 1998. Jim and Mary Ann Klyn were united in marriage on September 25, 1999. Jim and Mary Ann served together as God's servants in ministry in the community and as elders at Third Church. They enjoyed home projects and traveling. Jim retired in 2006 and worked for fourteen months at Straver's True Value. Jim's life of service was complimented with volunteering for church service projects, marriage encounter leadership and church consistory leadership. Over the course of his last fifteen years, Jim fought the fight of a recurrent mennigenoma having a total of five surgeries beginning in 1993 and the last surgery taking place in January of 2008. Jim passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family on May 23, 2008 at the age of 62 years and 7 days.Jim leaves behind his wife, Mary Ann of Pella, IA Three children: Julie (DeBoef) and Lance Beyer of Knoxville, IA and their four children: Jay Lee, Shane L., Chase L. and Justin L.; Brent and Sharla (VandenBosch) DeBoef of Hockessin, DE and their two children: Garrett Alan and Jacob William; Andrea DeBoef of Ames, IA. Three step-children: Mike and Julie (VanKooten) Klyn of Pella, IA and their two children: Teag Michael and Piper Ellie; Mark and Christi (Moore) Klyn of Wichita Falls, TX and their two children: Sarah Grace and Ella Ann; Cristin (Klyn) and Todd Pringle of Pella, IA and their four children: Joshua Dorran, Drew Eric, Jacey Layne and Carter Klyn. Parents: William & Martha Roozenboom DeBoef of Pella, IA; 11 Siblings: Willene and Mike Tannis of Imlay, MI; Marv and Alva DeBoef of Pella, IA; Leona Gagestein of Roy, UT; Donna and Jim Grandia of Riverside, CA; Pearl and Ron Menninga of Pella, IA; Bill and Sharon DeBoef of Union, IL; Kathy and Larry Groenenboom of Pella, IA; Ken and Deb DeBoef of Leighton, IA; Martha Kay DeBoef of Newton, IA; Karen and Jim Wallace of Pella, IA; Steve and Lynn DeBoef of Hull, IA; 41 nephews and nieces, 54 great nephews and nieces.
