Description	:	Jimmy D. Ahlberg, 84, of Cando, ND, formerly of rural Leeds, ND, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at the Towner County Living Center in Cando under the care of Mercy Hospice. Funeral services will be Monday, July 25th, 2011, 2:00 PM at North Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Leeds, with Pastor Michael Rohrer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Jimmie David Ahlberg was born August 25, 1926 in Springfield Township, rural Leeds, North Dakota. After completing his education at the North Dakota School for the Deaf in Devils Lake, he worked on his grandparent's farm, David & Emelia Ahlberg, and worked closely with his Uncle Gust Nilson. He lived with his grandparents until their passing and then moved to the Ester & Sanford Sexhus farm. He became a resident of Towner County Living Center in Cando in August, 2002. He was a member of North Prairie Free Lutheran Church. Despite his disability, he enjoyed socializing and was a treat to know. He was a practical joker. His sense of humor, wit and charm were enjoyed by everyone. He was loved by everyone who knew him. Jim was an avid gardener. He enjoyed farming, reading several newspapers and religious publications, the Minnesota Twins & Minnesota Vikings. The staff at Towner County Living Center did a tremendous job caring for Jimmie and making it possible for him to enjoy events he loved including bowling, playing cards and field trips. He truly loved the staff, and we believe the feeling was mutual. Jimmy is survived by his mother: Ester; a brother: Dennis (Sue) Sexhus of Leeds; a sister: Karen Beyer of Fargo; four nieces and nephews: Jessica (Kevin) Johnson of Ankeny, IA, Sam (Zoe) Sexhus of Southlake, TX, Sandra (Kyle) Meyer of Hillsboro, ND, and Steven (Cullen) Beyer of Brooklyn Park, MN; nine great nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra.
