His childhood years were spent near Everly, where he received his education at country schools in Clay County. He later attended Everly High School. Following his education, Jim farmed with his father for a short time before entering the military in 1966. Following his honorable discharge in 1968, he moved to Milford, where he worked for the City of Milford for several years and continued to farm part time with his father. He later began farming full time and had most recently moved to Spencer, where he worked for Hurst Salvage for the past few years Jim passed away October 26, 1995 He is survived by his parents, Martin and Cleo Wolthuis of Fostoria; four children, Jammie Wolthuis of Reinbeck, Codie, Chance and Ross Wolthuis all of Spencer; two grandchildren, Tyler and Teresa Hager of LaPlata, Missouri; one brother, Richard Wolthuis of Milford; one nephew, Michael of Milford; other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his sister in law, Karen and a niece Bobbi Jo. Interment was in North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer with Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of arrangement
