Description	:	Jimmy Moore Wilson, 85, passed away February 6th, 2019 at his home with family by his side from complications of cancer. He was born to Craig and Ruth Moore Wilson on November 15th 1933, and grew up on the family farm in Milton. This farm, designated a Heritage Farm, has now been the home to seven Wilson generations. Early on he joined his father in farming... Read More	Jimmy Moore Wilson, 85, passed away February 6th, 2019 at his home with family by his side from complications of cancer. He was born to Craig and Ruth Moore Wilson on November 15th 1933, and grew up on the family farm in Milton. This farm, designated a Heritage Farm, has now been the home to seven Wilson generations. As a boy, he attended Olive Branch Country School and graduated from Milton High School as Salutatorian in 1951. Jimmy’s life encompassed decades of valuing family, farm and community. Early on he joined his father in farming and in 1954 volunteered for Army duty. While there, he honed his mechanical skills which he then used for his entire life. He made lifelong friends and while on leave met his future wife, Nola, on a blind date. They corresponded by mail and after being discharged from the Army, he returned to the farm and married Nola Ibbotson on June 16, 1957 in Mediapolis, Iowa. In addition to farming he was a rural mail carrier for many years. Past community roles include, President of the Van Buren County Boys 4-H, volunteer Milton firefighter, committee member of the ASCS, Milton Farm COOP Board, and a member of the local FmHA board. He was on the Lebanon Cemetery board for many years. He was currently a 64-year Mason member of Doud’s Celestial Lodge 413, a member of the American Legion, Russell-Strait Legion Post #483, serving as past Commander and Adjutant, and Jackson Township Trustee. His cherished memories include sports as a young man, playing town ball, bowling and occasional golf game. Many trips to Florida to visit family in Jacksonville and an Honor Flight trip to Washington DC with son Brian, where he saw the history of our nation, made him happy. He and Nola also carried a reputation for the best homemade ice cream at Wilson reunions and town events and enjoyed annual train rides to California to visit their daughter Deanna and grandchildren. He is survived by Nola, his wife of 61 years, and their four children; David Wilson of Pleasantville, Iowa, Deanna (William Ashton) Wilson of Novato, California, Brian (Shelly) Wilson of Milton, Iowa and Julie (Kenny Roulet) Snyder of Bloomfield, Iowa. He was blessed with nine grandchildren; Philip (Chelsea) Wilson, Anthony (Shannon) Wilson, Christopher (Liz Nichols) Wilson, Katie (Mckane) Wells, Kyle Snyder, Justin Snyder, Benjamin Friedman, Timothy Friedman and Morgan Friedman; four step-grandchildren, Rory Braniger of Des Moines, Iowa, Christopher (Audrey) Braniger of Seymour, Missouri, Laura (Jay) Coons of Norwalk, Iowa, Brian Holgate of Des Moines; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Easton Wilson (who were a particular joy to him later in life) 20 step-great-grandchildren; nine step-great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, John Holland, John Ibbotson; sister-in-law, Nadine Ibbotson; eleven nieces and nephews; and a cousin, Bob (Gayle) Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jocelyn (Wilson) Holland; daughter-in-law, Carol Wilson; and a sister-in-law, Nina Vosecky. He was a member of the Milton Grace United Methodist Church since confirmation at the age of 14. He was currently affiliated with the Milton Christian Church. Masonic services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Grace Activity Center in Milton, Iowa. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. ellis Andrews and Minister Kevin Mote officiating. Military rites will be performed by Russell-Strait Post #483 at the Grace Activity Center. Cremation will follow the service with burial of the cremated remains at a later date at the Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Memorials have been established to Russell-Strait Post #483 of the American Legion, Grace Activity Center, and the Lebanon Cemetery and may be left at funeral home or mailed to 23505 Deer Ave., Milton, Iowa 52570.
