Jo Ann was born March 10, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska to Leo J. and Josephine (Liss) Sobczak. She grew up in Omaha and lived in Denver, Colorado, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dodge, Nebraska and Fremont. She was an elementary music teacher. She was the first Sacristan to serve at the new St. Patrick’s Church in Fremont for eleven years. She married Roman H. Jo Ann was born March 10, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska to Leo J. and Josephine (Liss) Sobczak. She grew up in Omaha and lived in Denver, Colorado, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dodge, Nebraska and Fremont. She was an elementary music teacher. She was the first Sacristan to serve at the new St. Patrick’s Church in Fremont for eleven years. She married Roman H. Ruskamp on September 13, 1980 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, Nebraska. He preceded her in death December 25, 1999. She was a member of Mount Michael Benedictine Abbey at Elkhorn, and a former member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont and St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, where she was organist for many years. Jo Ann is survived by her sister-in-law, Virginia Sobczak of Fremont; nephew, Jim (Lori) Sobczak of Las Vegas, Nevada; nieces, Jo Ann (Don) Rankin of Mountainburg, Arkansas, Patricia (Lance) Myers of Fremont, and Diane (Richard) Parsons of Cape Coral, Florida; special godchild, Sam Parsons of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roman; and brother, Leo Sobczak. Funeral mass will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Mount Michael Benedictine Abbey at Elkhorn. Abbot Michael Liebl and Brother James Pope will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, April 24, 2015 from 4 PM to 8 PM with a Rosary/Vigil at 7:00 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and will continue Saturday one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Dodge. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mount Michael." Moser Memorial Chapel, 2170 N.
