Description	:	MARION -- Mrs. Jo Ann Owens Demery, 61, wife of Sparkie Demery, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002 at Mullins Nursing Center after an illness. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Darrell Floyd and the Rev. Larry Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Reedy Creek Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins. Mrs. Demery was born Feb. 27, 1941, in Marion County, a daughter of the late Herbert Mack Owens and the late Thelma Coleman Owens. Mrs. Demery had worked with Heritage Sportswear for 40 years. Mrs. Demery was an active member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Homemakers Sunday School Class. Surviving Mrs. Demery in addition to her husband of the home are two brothers, Buck Owens and his wife Bernice of Rains and Buddy Owens and his wife Jean of Dillon; two sisters, Esteleen Rogers of Marion and Doris Stroman of Florence; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Demery was predeceased by two brothers, Layton Owens and Merle Owens. Memorials may made to Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves St., Florence, SC 29506 or to Reedy Creek Baptist Church, 2508 S. Highway 501, Marion, SC 29571. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.
