God said her chores were done and took her to her-best-ever home on April 22, 2006. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Center. Joan was born Oct. 18, 1949, to her amazing parents, Theo and Rosella (Henke) Oestrich. She grew up on the family farm, two miles west of Hannover. She loved the outdoors and the animals, especially horses. She enjoyed riding with her dad for work or fun. She went to grade school in Hannover, first through eighth grade, and graduated from Center High School in 1967. After graduation, she moved to Bismarck and worked there for 20 years. She married in 1971 and became the proud mother of two beautiful and strong children. Her daughter, Chanda Jo Longmuir, born March 13, 1972, and her son, Travis John Longmuir, born May 13, 1975. She was very proud of them and loved them. They filled her life with joy and love. In 1985, she was diagnosed with Alpha 1 anti tripson deficiency. She had a single lung transplant on Dec. 6, 1991, at the U of M in Minnesota. Her donor's mother became very close, writing letters and phone visits. Thank you Ethel Townsend for her second chance. Ethel is truly a hero. After she divorced, she met her very good friend and companion since 1987, Harvey Bieber. He was a great support in her life and she appreciated and loved him for all his help, care and friendship. He stayed with her through the good and the bad. In 1997, she and Harvey moved to Hannover to what was known as George Rabes' farm and lived there for three years. Her dad got sick with cancer in 2000 and they moved to her original home to take care of him. Her dad passed away in July 2000. They remained on the farm, where she once again enjoyed the outdoors and her horses and her dogs. She also enjoyed her miniature donkeys, which she raised; they gave her many hours of entertainment. She is survived by her daughter, Chanda Longmuir, Minneapolis; her son, Travis, Hannover; and her best friend and companion, Harvey Bieber, Hannover. She was preceded in death by her parents.
